Huawei launches 'Seeds for the Future Bangladesh 2025' programme

Huawei has announced the opening of registrations for its flagship ICT competition, Seeds for the Future 2025, aimed at nurturing ICT talent and fostering an advanced digital ecosystem in Bangladesh. Undergraduate students in their third or fourth year with a CGPA of at least 3.30 are invited to participate.

The Bangladesh round champion will win a Huawei MateBook, while the first and second runners-up will receive a Huawei Pad and Huawei Smart Watch, respectively. The top eight participants will travel to China to join the Tech4Good competition and receive advanced training, reads a press release.

The registration announcement was made at a ceremony held at Huawei Bangladesh Academy. Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology, was the Chief Guest.

Addressing the event, Taiyeb said, “The interim government is focused on formulating policies for AI, cloud, and semiconductors to drive digital transformation. Huawei’s role as a significant player in ICT is pivotal, and we encourage its collaboration with universities to develop technology labs and create opportunities for our youth.”

Other dignitaries present included Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the ICT Division; Dr. Md. Mohiuddin, Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare; and Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh.

Li Shaopeng praised Huawei’s efforts, saying, “This program has trained over 120 Bangladeshi students in the past 11 years, many of whom are now ICT leaders. Huawei’s commitment has significantly contributed to strengthening China-Bangladesh cooperation in ICT.”

Wu Ji, President of Huawei South Asia & CEO of Huawei Bangladesh, emphasized the program’s impact, stating, “‘Seeds for the Future’ bridges global innovation and local talent, equipping Bangladeshi students with world-class training and hands-on ICT experience to become future-ready professionals.”

Participants must submit their CV, a recent photograph, and a statement of interest in telecommunications and technology to sftfbd@huawei.com by May 10, 2025. Shortlisted candidates will undergo online interviews, followed by training on AI, cloud computing, and digital power. The program includes a four-day boot camp culminating in project presentations to select the top eight winners.

Since its inception in Bangladesh in 2014, Seeds for the Future has trained over 18,000 students globally from 141 countries, offering insights into advanced technologies and mentorship from industry experts.
