At the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025, vivo announced two major tech breakthroughs—its first mixed reality (MR) headset, vivo Vision, and the launch of its Robotics Lab. As a strategic partner of the forum for the fourth year, vivo also showcased its innovations in 6G, AI, and the Blue Technology Matrix, positioning itself as a future leader in intelligent consumer technology.
During the “vivo Release Moment” at the forum in Boao, Hainan, Hu Baishan—Executive Vice President, COO, and President of vivo Central Research Institute—delivered a keynote titled "Humanity in the Future of Technology by vivo". In his speech, Hu reflected on vivo’s 30-year journey, highlighting the brand’s user-first philosophy, collaborative approach, and long-term investment in future technologies, reads a press release.
vivo, which has led China’s domestic smartphone market for four consecutive years and now serves over 500 million users in 60+ countries, is now stepping boldly into the realms of robotics and mixed reality.
Hu announced the official launch of the vivo Robotics Lab, which will focus on developing AI-powered, home-use robotics. Unlike industrial robots, these personal robots will be tailored to assist in daily life. He emphasized that smartphones, equipped with advanced AI and real-time spatial computing, can act as a bridge between digital AI systems and physical robotic functions. The lab will leverage vivo’s strengths in imaging and AI models to build what Hu described as the “brain” and “eyes” of consumer robots.
In a move into immersive tech, Hu also unveiled vivo Vision, the company’s first mixed reality headset. The device blends AI, spatial computing, and vivo’s imaging capabilities to offer users a richer, more interactive digital experience.
Additionally, Hu announced that the upcoming vivo X200 Ultra—set to be released next month—will integrate these cutting-edge imaging technologies and has been named the Official Smartphone of the Boao Forum for Asia.
vivo also presented its Blue Technology Matrix, including innovations under BlueImage, BlueLM, BlueOS, BlueChip, and BlueVolt, alongside ongoing developments in 6G.
