The 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, has completed his first 100 days of his second term in office, marking the milestone with a sharp decline in popularity.

Upon taking office, Trump swiftly implemented major policy shifts in areas such as the economy, trade, immigration, jobs, and healthcare.

His imposition of tariffs marked the beginning of a new trade war on the global stage, a move he had hinted at before taking office.

Despite securing the presidency with a clear majority, his popularity has rapidly waned, with many Americans now voicing disapproval.

A recent survey by the Associated Press (AP) reveals troubling figures for the president.

More than half of Americans deem Trump a "terrible" president, while a significant portion of his own Republican base has voiced dissatisfaction with his policies.

According to the AP poll, only 24% of adults believe Trump has taken the right steps in his first 100 days, with 40% of Americans considering him to be a "terrible" leader.

Only 10% of respondents view him as incompetent in his role, while 30% think he is performing "adequately," and 20% regard his actions as above average.

The poll comes at a time when Trump's second term approval rating is plummeting.

More than half of Americans do not support his current actions, particularly his trade tariffs and policies affecting federal employees.

Furthermore, the survey highlights frustration among the Democratic camp, with three-quarters of Democrats accusing Trump of focusing on unnecessary issues.

A staggering 70% of Democrats label him as a "terrible" president.

Research by the AP’s Centre for Public Affairs further reveals that only 54% of Republicans believe Trump is on the right path, with many in his own party critical of his actions.

A separate poll conducted by The New York Times paints an even bleaker picture, showing that only 42% of the general public supports Trump, with just 29% of independent voters backing him.

As the US president enters the second phase of his term, the political landscape remains deeply divided, with growing opposition from both parties and a disillusioned electorate.
