Taskeen Ahmed, Vice Chairman of IFAD Group, has been elected as the President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) for the term 2025. The announcement came at the 63rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of DCCI, held on December 15 at the Chamber’s auditorium in Motijheel.
Alongside Ahmed, Razeev H. Chowdhury has been elected as the Senior Vice President, and Md. Salem Sulaiman as the Vice President for the same term, reads a press release.
The newly elected board of directors for 2025–2027 includes Enamul Haque Patwary, Md. Mostafa Kamal, Minhaj Ahmed, Muhammad Zamsher Ali, Rasheed Mymunul Islam, and Salman Bin Rashid Shah Sayeem.
Taskeen Ahmed, the newly elected President, is currently the Vice Chairman of IFAD Group, a leading Bangladeshi conglomerate operating across industries such as automotive, food processing, and consumer goods. Ahmed joined his family business in 1999 and has since led several business units over his 25-year career.
Ahmed's contributions extend beyond IFAD Group, having served as the President of the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IBCCI), Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Automobile Assemblers and Manufacturers Association (BAAMA), and Director of DCCI. His efforts have strengthened regional business ties and advanced Bangladeshi enterprises on the global stage.
Razeev H. Chowdhury, the newly elected Senior Vice President, is the Managing Director of several ventures, including Defense Dynamics Enterprise Limited and Arco Cold Storage Limited, and has diverse experience in trading, government and defense indenting, IT, and retail sectors. He previously served as a DCCI Director (2023–2024) and was the founding President of Junior Chamber International (JCI)-Bangladesh, Dhaka South. He holds a BBA and MBA from Huron University, USA, in London.
Md. Salem Sulaiman, the newly elected Vice President, leads multiple companies, including Massons Polymer Corporation and Lalbagh Metal Industries Limited. His businesses focus on international procurement, imports, and distribution of chemicals and metals. He has previously served DCCI as a Director (2024 & 2006–2008) and holds leadership roles in organizations like the Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BTCCI).
The new leadership is expected to drive initiatives to strengthen the role of the private sector in Bangladesh's economy, emphasizing sustainable growth and fostering international partnerships. The DCCI, under Ahmed's leadership, is poised to build on its legacy of representing the interests of businesses and advancing economic progress.
