The Bangladesh Army has strongly condemned India Today for publishing a misleading report claiming an "emergency meeting" was held regarding a potential coup against Chief Adviser Mohammad Yunus.
In a statement issued today, the Army dismissed the article, titled "Bangladesh Army Holds Emergency Meeting Amid Possibility of Coup Against Chief Adviser Mohammad Yunus", as baseless and irresponsible.
“This report is completely false and lacks any credible sources or verifiable evidence. It is yet another attempt to spread misinformation and create unnecessary panic,” the Army said.
The statement also criticized India Today for repeatedly publishing misleading reports about Bangladesh’s armed forces, recalling a similar false story debunked earlier on 11 March 2025.
Reaffirming its commitment to democracy and national stability, the Bangladesh Army called on all media outlets to engage in responsible journalism and refrain from spreading disinformation that could harm bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India.
