Iran Ambassador Mansour Chavoshi paid a courtesy visit to Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. Discussions centered on bolstering bilateral and multilateral relations, with a particular focus on economic and cultural cooperation.
The Foreign Secretary highlighted the deep historical and cultural connections between Bangladesh and Iran, emphasising the potential for collaboration in various sectors. Ambassador Chavoshi echoed these sentiments, seeking Bangladesh's support to enhance engagement in trade, investment, and other areas.
The two sides reviewed progress on several pending agreements, including instruments on cultural exchange, visa waivers, and educational collaborations. They also discussed ways to address challenges in optimizing bilateral trade and commercial ties.
During the meeting, Ambassador Chavoshi extended an invitation for Bangladesh’s participation in the Iran Expo 2025, scheduled from 26 April to 2 May in Tehran. In response, the Foreign Secretary invited Iranian businesses and investors to the upcoming Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025, set to take place from 7 April to 10 April in Dhaka.
Both parties expressed their commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation, with plans to convene the next round of the Joint Economic Commission and Foreign Office Consultations at the earliest opportunity.
Ambassador Chavoshi also conveyed gratitude for Bangladesh's longstanding support on international platforms, expressing hope for continued collaboration in multilateral forums.
