Law enforcement authorities arrested 1,638 individuals across the country in the past 24 hours in connection with 'Operation Devil Hunt’ and other criminal activities. Among them, 639 were detained specifically under 'Operation Devil Hunt’, according to AIG (Media & PR) of the Police Headquarters Inamul Haque Sagar, who confirmed the information on Tuesday (25 February) afternoon.
According to Inamul Haque Sagar, the arrests included 639 under Operation ‘Devil Hunt’ and 999 others based on various cases and warrants.
During the operation, law enforcement recovered 1 foreign-made pistol, 1 LEG, 1 magazine.
'Operation Devil Hunt’ is a nationwide special crackdown that began on 8 February. The decision to launch this operation followed an attack on student protesters in Gazipur on 7 February, allegedly carried out by activists of the ousted ruling party, Awami League.
