The first phase of the 58th Bishwa Ijtema concluded on Sunday (2 February) morning at the banks of the Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur, with the Akheri Munajat, a solemn final supplication attended by hundreds of thousands of devotees.
The Munajat commenced at 9:10am and concluded at 9:37am, led by Maulana Zubair Ahmed.
With tear-filled eyes and hands raised in devotion, worshippers prayed for divine mercy and the welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
From every vantage point, as far as the eye could see, a vast sea of devotees stood shoulder to shoulder in prayer.
Lakhs of worshippers participated in the gathering, surrendering themselves in supplication before the Almighty.
The 58th Bishwa Ijtema began on 30 January after the Maghrib prayers, with an inaugural sermon by India’s Maulana Ibrahim Dewla.
Organised by the Shura-e-Nizam, this three-day congregation drew thousands of devotees from across the country.
According to the organisers, this year’s Ijtema is being held in two phases. The first phase, divided into two segments, saw participants from 41 districts and parts of Dhaka from 31 January to 2 February.
The second segment is scheduled from 3 to 5 February, with devotees from 22 districts and the remaining parts of Dhaka expected to attend.
