The government has allocated Tk 33.87 crore through the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief to procure and distribute blankets among cold-stricken and distressed people across the country, according to an official statement released on Friday.
The statement detailed that Tk 33,87,50,000 has been earmarked to provide warmth and relief to those affected by the ongoing winter chill.
Approximately 6,79,000 blankets procured from the Chief Adviser’s (CA’s) relief fund have already been distributed.
Furthermore, the ministry has distributed 15,250 blankets among cold-affected people in 14 northern districts at the onset of winter.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has instructed Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) to expedite the purchase of blankets using the allocated funds, ensuring compliance with all financial regulations.
Deputy Commissioners (DCs) have been directed to closely monitor the procurement and distribution process to guarantee transparency and timely delivery of relief materials to those in need.
This initiative aims to provide much-needed support to vulnerable communities during the harsh winter season.
