A total of 4 people have lost their lives, and at least 20 others have sustained injuries in two separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Mawa expressway.

The first incident occurred in the early hours of Friday (3 January), at around 5am, near the Hasara area on the Dhaka-bound lane of the expressway.

A bus collided with a truck, resulting in two fatalities.

The identities of the deceased in this crash are yet to be determined.

In a separate incident on Thursday (2 January), at around 11:30pm, a minibus rear-ended a stationary covered van in the Nimtala area of Sirajdikhan. Two individuals, identified as Jibon, 44, a helper of Abdullah Paribahan and a resident of Kalligao village in Srinagar, and Raihan, 27, a passenger from Debipura village under Malkhanagar Union in Sirajdikhan, were killed.

The bodies of the deceased were kept at the Srinagar Upazila Health Complex.

According to police, the covered van was parked by the roadside when the minibus, unable to see clearly due to dense fog, crashed into the back of the van.

The collision severely damaged the minibus, leaving two people dead and several others injured.

Five of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, according to doctors at the Srinagar Upazila Health Complex.

Officer-in-Charge Abdul Kader Jilani of Hasara Highway Police stated that the roof of the minibus was torn off, and the vehicle was severely mangled.

The covered van involved in the accident has been seized, although the driver fled the scene.

Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly during foggy conditions, to prevent such tragedies.
