Police have arrested W. Bepari, the owner of the Bepari Paribahan bus involved in the fatal accident at the Dhaleshwari toll plaza on the Dhaka-Mawa expressway in Keraniganj, which resulted in six deaths and caused severe damage to several vehicles.

Nurul Amin, brother of deceased Amena Begum, filed a case with Dakshin Keraniganj police station on Saturday, naming the bus owner as one of the accused.

The arrest took place around 12:30 am on 29 December in Shibchar, Madaripur, said AKM Akhtaruzzaman Bosunia, Superintendent of Police for the Highway Police's Gazipur Region, during a press conference at Hashara Highway Police Station in Munshiganj.

During the press conference, Akhtaruzzaman said, the bus was unfit for operation and had been taken out of the garage just one day before the accident. He also confirmed that the bus driver’s license had expired.

On 28 December, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Md. Nurunnabi, the driver of the Bepari Paribahan bus, in the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj.

The accident, captured on CCTV, occurred at 11:06 am on Friday (27 December). The out-of-control bus collided with a car, ran over a motorcycle, and rear-ended a microbus at the toll plaza, mangling the vehicles and causing significant disruption on the expressway.
