A firefighter died as a truck hit him while working to douse a fire at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka in the early hours of Thursday (26 December).
The victim is Sohanur Zaman Nayan, a firefighter from the special team of Tejgaon Fire Station in Dhaka.
Habibur Rahman, another member of fire unit, received injuries in his leg while working to extinguish the blaze.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Director General Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal detailed at a press conference this morning.
Zahid said a speeding truck hit Nayan from behind while he was crossing the road to connect a water pipe to a pump.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead, he added.
