Sarwar Alam made President's Press Secretary

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification signed by ministry’s Deputy Secretary Abul Hayat to this end on Monday.

The government has appointed Md Sarwar Alam as the press secretary to the President, in the rank of secretary on a two-year contract.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification signed by ministry’s Deputy Secretary Abul Hayat to this end on Monday.

Sarwar Alam, a former information cadre officer, succeeds Md Joynal Abedin, another contractual officer from the information cadre, in the role.

The notification reads, “In accordance with Section 49 of the Government Employment Act, 2018, Md Sarwar Alam (Reference Number- 7609) has been given a contractual appointment as the President's Press Secretary in the rank of Secretary for a two-year term from the date of joining on the condition of renouncing any other profession, business or employment relationship with government, semi-government, private institution or organisations.”

The other conditions of appointment will be determined by the contract, it added.

Earlier, Sarwar Alam served as the Deputy Press Secretary to several heads of government.

He did his bachelor and master degrees from the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences of the University of Dhaka.
