The 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to commence on 30 December, and in anticipation, the "BPL T20 Music Fest" will be held today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

To facilitate the event, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced traffic restrictions on several roads in Mirpur.

The gates of Mirpur Stadium will open at 2:30pm on Monday (23 December) for the music festival.

In preparation for smooth traffic management, the DMP has issued three specific directives, effective between 1pm and 10pm.

During this period, vehicular movement on roads surrounding the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium and the Mirpur-10 roundabout will remain suspended.

Vehicles plying these areas have been advised to use alternative routes.

In a public notice issued on Sunday (22 December), the DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali outlined the following guidelines:

  • Vehicles travelling from Mirpur-1 to Mirpur-10, 11, 12, and 14 should use the zoo road via Sony Cinema Hall, passing through Rainkhola Crossing and Prashika Mor Crossing.
  • Vehicles from Mirpur-12 passing through the Mirpur-10 roundabout should take the Original-10 route, turning right towards Prashika Mor Crossing.
  • Vehicles travelling towards Mirpur-1 and Mirpur-12 via the Mirpur-10 roundabout from Agargaon should avoid the roundabout altogether. Instead, they should turn left from Agargaon and proceed via Shyamoli Shishu Mela, Technical Mor, and Sony Cinema Hall Crossing, utilising the zoo road at Rainkhola Crossing.

The DMP urged citizens to cooperate and adhere to these alternative routes to ensure minimal disruption and smooth traffic flow during the event.
