Welcoming new Director General of the Center on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) Dr P Chandra Shekhara in Dhaka, Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin on Tuesday emphasized connecting rural and non-rural development activities.

He assured the Director General of the necessary cooperation in delivering his responsibilities.

The new Director General of the CIRDAP called on the Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Director General of CIRDAP highlighted the activities of CIRDAP in rural development in the member states.

The discussion touched upon expanding the number of member states of CIRDAP, collaboration among the member states, strengthening the capacity of CIRDAP, collaboration with the designated national institutions of the member states, and celebrating World Rural Development Day on 6 July every year.

The Foreign Secretary mentioned that Bangladesh has initiated the resolution of celebrating World Rural Development Day on 6 July which is the founding date of CIRDAP.

The government of Bangladesh will take necessary measures to celebrate the day and commend the importance
