The resolution to the battery-rickshaw driver's movement issue lies with the High Court, said Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
“High Court’s directive will serve as the final solution to this matter,” he said during a press briefing on Sunday (24 November) at the secretariat.
“We will strictly adhere to whatever guidance the court provides. We are hopeful for a constructive directive that will resolve the ongoing challenges related to battery-run rickshaws,” he added.
In response to queries regarding the decision to prohibit auto-rickshaws on the roads, the adviser clarified, “The High Court has already issued instructions to halt auto-rickshaw operations. Any resolution to this issue must now come from the High Court. Providing any comment from my end at this stage could potentially amount to contempt of court. We are optimistic that the forthcoming directive will pave the way for a comprehensive solution.”
Speaking on the overall law and order situation in the country, he highlighted that the situation has notably improved and expressed confidence in further advancements.
“We are not particularly concerned about the current law and order situation; it has largely stabilised. Gradual progress is anticipated, and we remain hopeful,” he remarked.
