Reform commissions advance efforts, holds key meeting with CA

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus met with the heads of the reform commissions to discuss the commission’s progress in advancing state reform initiatives. 

The meeting took place at the CA's office in the capital's Tejgaon area on Monday (4 November).

Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, the head of the Public Administration Reform Commission, updated the chief adviser on the commission’s advancement.

The commission has now commenced its operations in full swing, having launched an online platform to gather public opinions. Additionally, commission members have visited district and sub-district levels to engage in discussions with the public.

Exchanges with representatives from various public administration cadres have also begun and remain ongoing.

Commission members expressed optimism that the Public Administration Reform Commission would submit its report within the designated timeframe.

In a parallel discussion, Safar Raj Hossain presented the progress of the Police Reform Commission’s activities.

The Police Reform Commission has already held 10 meetings and conducted four additional sessions with relevant stakeholders.

A questionnaire soliciting public input has been prepared and posted online.

Proposals for revising specific laws and regulations are currently under review, with recommendations underway for simplifying certain processes. 

The commission is also working on revising the approach to the use of force in mob control and examining specific sections of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, to assess the need for amendments.
