Bangladesh Bank (BB) in an instruction stated that any account holder can now withdraw Tk4.0 lakh from a bank account in a day. The latest limit of cash withdrawal was Tk3.0 lakh due to security reasons.
The financial sector regulator has given a Short Message Service (SMS) to the Managing Directors (MDs) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of banks. They were informed the latest development on Saturday (24 August) night, which will be applicable until further notice.
According to the instructions, even if a customer cannot withdraw more than Tk 3 lakhs in cash, they can transfer any amount to another account and do digital transactions.
After the change of Sheikh Hasina’s government on 5 August, the pressure of cash withdrawal increased slightly.
On 18 August, Bangladesh Bank (BB) in an instruction stated that no more than Tk3.0 lakh cash can be withdrawn from a bank account in a day due to security reasons.
The central bank, on 10 August, said that no more than Tk2.0 cash could be withdrawn from the account. On 8 August, the customer could not withdraw more than Tk1.0 lakh cash for one day.
