Charges have been filed against Sheikh Hasina and 147 others, including senior members of the Awami League, over the killing of Liton Hasan Lalu during an anti-discrimination movement.

A case has been filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 147 others, including Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, in connection with the murder of Liton Hasan Lalu.

The case was lodged by Milan,  a resident of Mirpur Shewrapara, with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka on Monday (19 August).

Metropolitan Magistrate Mehdi Hasan has instructed the Mirpur Model Police Station to accept the complaint as a formal case, the plaintiff’s lawyer, Iltutmish Soudagar told the media.

The allegations state that during the anti-discrimination movement on 4 August, Liton Hasan Lalu was shot near the intersection in Mirpur 10.

He was promptly taken to the nearby Agargaon Neuro Sciences Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on 7 August while receiving treatment.
