A murder case has been filed against Sheikh Hasina, the president of the Awami League and former prime minister, along with 100 others, including the party's general secretary, Obaidul Quader, in connection with the death of teacher Selim Hossain, 35, during an anti-discrimination protest led by students and the public in Bogura.
The deceased, Selim Hossain, was a resident of Palikanda village in Pirab Union of Shibganj Upazila, Bogura. His father, Sekender Ali, lodged the complaint at the Bogura Sadar Police Station on Friday (16th August).
In the case, Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader have been accused of orchestrating the murder.
The list of accused includes two former Members of Parliament from the Awami League, five Upazila chairmen, two Mayors, eight councillors from Bogura Municipality, ten Union Parishad chairmen, and 25 public representatives.
Additionally, 350 unidentified individuals have also been implicated in the case.
Notable among the accused are Mujibur Rahman, former MP of Bogura-5 (Sherpur-Dhunat) and President of Bogura District Awami League; Ragebul Ahsan, former MP of Bogura-6 (Sadar) and General Secretary of Bogura District Awami League; T. Zaman Niketa, Vice-President of Bogura District Awami League; and Manjurul Alam, Joint General Secretary of Bogura District Awami League. Other key figures named include Rafi Newaz Khan, President of the Bogura City Awami League; Obaidul Hasan, General Secretary of Bogura City Awami League; Subhashish Poddar, President of Bogura District Jubo League; and Masudur Rahman, Treasurer of Bogura District Awami League and President of Bogura Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
