An investigation has been launched against Sheikh Hasina and nine others on charges of crimes against humanity, including allegations of murder during the anti-discrimination student movement from 15 July to 5 August.

"The investigative agency initiated the probe last night, having registered the complaint prior to commencing the investigation. The complainants are expected to receive a progress report within seven days," said Gazi MH Tanim, a Supreme Court lawyer who filed the case on behalf of Bulbul Kabir, father of Arif Ahmed Siam, a class 9 student killed during the recent unrest on Thursday (15 August).
The application against Sheikh Hasina and the other accused was submitted to the International Crimes Tribunal's investigative agency on Wednesday (14 August).
Events cited in the complaint span from 15 July to 5 August, with subsequent deaths resulting from injuries during this period also included.
It states the entire country of Bangladesh as the location of the incidents.
The nature of the crimes is described as indiscriminate firing by the accused, under the direction and planning of the first to ninth defendants, using both domestic and firearms, with the intent to partially or completely annihilate unarmed student protesters involved in the anti-discrimination movement.
