Dr Saleh Uddin Ahmed is a distinguished former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, who hails from the village of Srirampur (Darishrirampur) in the Nabinagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria district. He is one of the 17 eminent individuals who has been appointed as an adviser to Bangladesh's interim government.

He completed his SSC from Dhaka Collegiate School in 1963 and HSC from Dhaka College in 1965.

He subsequently earned a BA Honours in Economics from the University of Dhaka in 1968, followed by an MA in the same field in 1969.

Upon completing his studies, he began his career as a lecturer in Economics at the University of Dhaka in 1970.

Shortly thereafter, he joined the Civil Service of Pakistan (CSP), part of the central administration of then-Pakistan.

He went on to become the ninth Governor of Bangladesh Bank, serving from 1st May 2005 until 30th April 2009.
