The Dubai Taxi Corporation, owned by the UAE government, is set to hire 1,300 cab and motorcycle drivers from Bangladesh this year, according to Bangladesh's State Minister for Overseas Employment, Shofiqur Rahman Choudhury.

The announcement came after a meeting between the state minister and Abdulla Ali Khaseif AlHmoudi, the UAE ambassador to Bangladesh, on Thursday.

During a press release issued by his ministry, Shofiqur Rahman said, "During my visit to the UAE in May, I held meetings with the chairmen of the top 16 companies that recruit manpower from Bangladesh. One of these meetings was with the Dubai Taxi Corporation. As a result, they have commenced the recruitment of skilled workers from Bangladesh."

The state minister specified that the corporation plans to hire 1,000 motorcyclists and 300 cab drivers this year.

He also mentioned that the UAE has plans to recruit an additional 2,000 drivers from Bangladesh starting next year.

UAE Ambassador AlHmoudi highlighted the enduring relationship between the two countries, which he believes will be further strengthened through this recruitment initiative.

"There are plans to increase that number to 2,000 drivers next year. The workers will be compensated in accordance with UAE labor laws," AlHmoudi said.
