Legal assistance has been provided to 1,182,767 poor and helpless people through the National Legal Aid Services Organization (Legal Aid) from 2009 to February 2025.

This information has been revealed in a report published on the website of Legal Aid, stating that a total of 1,182,767 poor and helpless people have received legal assistance at government expense from 2009 to February 2025.

Initially, the National Legal Aid Services Organization launched this service at the district level, and later, it was expanded to the Supreme Court, the Workers' Legal Aid Cell in Dhaka and Chattogram, and prisons across the country, said the report.

During the period, legal service has been provided through 64 district legal aid offices, Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, Dhaka and Chattogram Workers' Legal Aid Cells and the toll-free government Legal Aid National Helpline (16430), the report mentioned.

Of the beneficiaries, 28,761 people received legal assistance through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, 939,831 accessed the service through district legal aid offices across 64 districts, 29,117 received support through the Workers' Legal Aid Cells in Dhaka and Chattogram, and 185,058 underprivileged people availed legal services through the National Helpline (16430).

This service has been provided at government expense under the Legal Aid Act with the aim of providing legal support to financially indigent and incompetent people seeking justice.

The activities of the National Legal Aid Services Organization are carried out under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
