BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of an eight-year-old rape victim from Magura, demanding exemplary punishment for those responsible.
In a condolence message issued by BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan shortly after the girl's passing, Fakhrul condemned the brutal crime, calling the perpetrators "monsters."
"An innocent child was subjected to unimaginable cruelty in Magura," he said. "Her suffering, the scars she bore, and the painful struggle for life on a hospital bed have left us all in shame and grief beyond words."
Fakhrul prayed for the peace of her departed soul and extended his deepest condolences to the grieving family.
"At the same time, I demand that these criminals face the harshest punishment," he added.
The young girl, who was raped while visiting her sister-in-law’s home in Magura, succumbed to her injuries at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
The attack occurred on the night of 5 March in Nijnanduali village, Magura Sadar upazila. She was initially treated at Magura General Hospital before being transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital as her condition worsened.
She was later moved to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and subsequently to CMH, where she passed away.
Her tragic death has ignited protests nationwide, with university students, including those from Dhaka University, staging demonstrations demanding justice and the death penalty for the perpetrators.
