Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) has once again raised gold prices, marking the fifth increase in the last 20 days and setting a new record high in the country’s history.
According to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of BAJUS's Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, the revised rates will come into effect from Friday, 21 February.
The price of the highest-quality 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk3,243 per bhori (11.664 grammes), bringing it to Tk1,54,525, up from the previous Tk1,51,282.
Under the new pricing structure, the cost of 21-carat gold is now set at Tk1,47,503 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will be sold at Tk1,26,426 per bhori. The traditional method gold price has been adjusted to Tk1,04,206 per bhori.
Despite the surge in gold prices, silver rates remain unchanged.
Currently, 22-carat silver is priced at Tk2,578 per bhori, while 21-carat, 18-carat, and traditional-method silver stand at Tk2,449, Tk2,111, and Tk1,586 per bhori, respectively.
The previous gold price hike was announced on 17 February and took effect the following day.
Since then, gold has continued to be traded at elevated prices, reflecting the persistent upward trend in the market.
