The government has changed the names of 13 public universities named after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the family of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
On Thursday (16 January), Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and Youth and Sports of the interim government, announced this information in a post on his verified Facebook page.
In the post, he mentioned that Sheikh Hasina University, Netrokona has been renamed to Netrokona University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University, Kishoreganj has been renamed to Kishoreganj University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University, Naogaon has been renamed to Naogaon University.
In addition, Mujibnagar University, Meherpur has been renamed as Meherpur University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur has been renamed as Gazipur Agricultural University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Shariatpur Agricultural University has been renamed as Shariatpur Agricultural University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Bangladesh has been renamed as Bangladesh Digital University.
Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Science and Technology University, Jamalpur has been renamed as Jamalpur Science and Technology University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Pirojpur has been renamed as Pirojpur Science and Technology University, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Narayanganj has been renamed as Narayanganj Science and Technology University.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Gopalganj has been renamed Gopalganj University of Science and Technology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, Chittagong has been renamed Maritime University Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University has been renamed Aviation and Aerospace University Bangladesh.
