2 ‘lynched’ over theft in Kishoreganj

Two people were lynched to death over an alleged buffalo theft in Ashtagram upazila of Kishoreganj on Saturday morning. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashtagram Police Station Md Ruhul Amin said confirmed the deaths. 

The victims are Shajahan Mia, 35, son of Charu Mia of Kachua village in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district and Nasir Mia, 30, son of Hira Mia of Kagji village in Deoghar union, Kishoreganj. 

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, the police official said. 

Citing locals, he said villagers caught the duo while they were attempting to steal a buffalo from the area of Bangalpara in the upazila. 

Later, they were taken to Deoghar Government Primary School and beat them up, leaving both dead on the spot. 

OC Ruhul Amin added that the bodies were sent to Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
