Prominent health content creator Tasnim Jara has been appointed as one of the joint conveners of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, a political platform formed in the wake of the recent student-led mass uprising.

In a post on her verified Facebook account on Tuesday (10 December), Jara expressed the gravity of her decision to enter politics, describing it as a challenging but significant step.

"I have taken on the responsibility of joint convener of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee. This is the first time I am joining a political platform, so the decision was not easy. However, I have found many intelligent, thoughtful, and honest individuals in this committee who have made extraordinary sacrifices to realise the aspirations of an uprising," Jara wrote.

Highlighting the challenges ahead, Jara underscored that the pursuit of justice, the assurance of dignity for all citizens, and the cultivation of a respectful political culture would demand immense effort and dedication.

She pledged to approach these goals with sincerity, stating, "If you have any advice for me, please let me know. If I make mistakes, point them out. And if I do something good, please encourage and support me by standing by my side."

The Jatiya Nagorik Committee underwent restructuring on Monday, with Nasiruddin Patwary named as convener and Akhtar Hossain as member secretary. The committee emerged in response to the widespread public demonstrations in July and August, led predominantly by students.

Jara’s decision to assume a political role has been met with widespread attention, given her prominence as a health advocate and content creator. Her call for public engagement and accountability highlights her commitment to fostering transparency and collaboration in her new role.
