A court here today granted seven-day remanded for main accused Chandan Das while five-day remand for Ripon Das in lawyer Saiful Islam Alif murder case.
The Special Court of Judge Kazi Shariful Islam passed the order after investigation officer sought 10-day remand for each of the arrestees, Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Mofizul Haque Bhuiyan said.
Earlier, the two accused were produced before the court amid tight security. Law enforcement agencies enforced strict security on the entire court premises and in the surrounding areas since morning.
Police arrested Chandan Das, the prime suspect in the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif, from the Bhairab Rail Station in Kishoreganj district.
Police also arrested another suspect Ripon Das from Anwara upazila of the district yesterday.

On November 26, a Chattogram court sent former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari to jail. His followers then engaged in a clash with police and lawyers. Saiful was hacked to death allegedly by the ISKCON supporters at that time.
