Chandan was arrested late Wednesday (4 December) night at Bhairab Junction Railway Station, said Bhairab Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shahin.
A joint operation led by police personnel from Bhairab and Chattogram’s Kotwali police stations resulted in Chandan’s arrest.
The case, filed on 29 November by the victim’s father, Jamal Uddin, at Kotwali Police Station, implicates 31 individuals in the killing.

The incident traces back to 25 November, when the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Samilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote and an ISKCON leader, at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
The following day, he was presented before a Chattogram court, which denied his bail and sent him to jail.
While transporting Chinmoy Krishna Das to jail, his supporters intercepted the prison van and clashed with law enforcement and lawyers.
In the ensuing chaos, lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was fatally attacked and hacked to death by Chinmoy’s followers.
This brutal murder has sparked widespread condemnation, leading to swift police action and the subsequent filing of legal cases to bring the perpetrators to justice.
