A new Election Commission has been formed with AMM Nasir Uddin as chief election commissioner, alongside four new commissioners

The newly appointed CEC and the four commissioners will formally take their oaths on Sunday (24 November).

Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed is scheduled to administer the oath-taking ceremony.

Earlier, on Thursday, 21 November, the Cabinet Division issued an official gazette confirming the appointment of AMM Nasir Uddin as the chief election commissioner.

A separate gazette notification detailed the appointments of the four election commissioners.

The newly appointed election commissioners are:

  • Retired Additional Secretary Md. Anwarul Islam Sarkar
  • Retired District and Sessions Judge Abdur Rahmanel Masud
  • Retired Joint Secretary Begum Tahmida Ahmed
  • Retired Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah

Formation of a new EC marks a significant step forward, following the Search Committee's deliberations and proposals.

The new team is expected to oversee upcoming electoral responsibilities with diligence and impartiality.
