The seven colleges currently affiliated with Dhaka University are set to be restructured into an integrated institution, said Education Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud.

This statement was made on Wednesday (20 November), during the 184th founding anniversary celebration of Dhaka College, where he served as the chief guest.

Mahmud described the affiliation of the seven historic colleges in the capital as a "short-sighted decision," which has led to numerous challenges for students, including harassment, examination-related complications, and other obstacles.

These issues, according to him, have adversely affected the quality of education. To alleviate these challenges, efforts are underway to transform the seven colleges into a unified institutional framework.

He further stated that the name of this integrated institution would be determined through discussions with the students.

A committee has already been formed to oversee this transition, and students are welcome to observe the proceedings.

In urging students to return to their classes, Wahiduddin Mahmud emphasised that the government is committed to eliminating disparities faced by students.

He has encouraged institutional heads to report existing problems, which will be addressed accordingly.

"I call upon students to resume their studies so that their education remains uninterrupted. All their grievances will be resolved," he assured.
