Local Government Adviser AF Hasan Ariff has proposed that the tenure of the National Parliament should be reduced from five years to four.

Additionally, he advocates for the terms of city corporations, municipalities, and other local government bodies to be decreased from five years to three.

He shared these views during a discussion held at the secretariat with members of the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) on Wednesday afternoon (30 October).

The adviver further noted that although administrators have been appointed in city corporations and municipalities, the government has yet to remove Union Parishad chairpersons and Upazila vice-chairpersons from their positions. He assured that the matter will be addressed in due course.

The session was moderated by BSRF General Secretary Masudul Haque and presided over by President Fasih Uddin Mahtab.
