Bangladesh reported six more deaths from dengue fever in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday morning, bringing the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 286 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During this period, 1,312 new patients were hospitalised with dengue across the country.
Among them, 322 were admitted to hospitals under the Dhaka North City Corporation, and 181 were hospitalised in Dhaka South City Corporation. Currently, a total of 4,016 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals nationwide.
Since 1 January, 2024, the DGHS has recorded 59,420 dengue cases. Last year, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, making it the deadliest year on record, with 321,179 cases and 318,749 recoveries documented.
