Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump once again faced an attempted attack during a campaign rally in California.

On Saturday (12 October), a man was arrested with weapons in the Coachella area of California, reports Al Jazeera.

The report detailed that the attempted attack occurred near the venue of Trump’s campaign rally for the upcoming US presidential election. This marks the third such incident against Trump. The suspect was seen carrying an illegal shotgun and a loaded firearm near the rally site.

Security personnel quickly apprehended the individual and removed him from the area before Trump took to the stage, averting any potential danger.

Following the incident, the US Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles issued a statement on Sunday via its website, assuring the public that Trump is safe and that an investigation is underway. However, Trump has yet to make any public comment on the matter.

The arrested individual, identified as 49-year-old Vem Miller, is a resident of Nevada. Authorities revealed that Miller is facing charges after two guns and a high-capacity magazine were discovered at the rally venue.

Additionally, several passports and identification documents were found in the suspect’s car, all registered under different names. None of these documents were validly registered.

This incident follows two previous attacks on Trump. In July, the first attack occurred during a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump narrowly escaped harm.

A second assassination attempt was made in September.
