Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal are available for the selection of the Champions Trophy next year, said Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Faruque Ahmed.
Ace allrounder Shakib Al Hasan didn't return to the country following the ouster of the Awami League government in which he was a former lawmaker.
Shakib’s bowling action found to be illegal and he has also been banned from bowling. However, he is fit to continue to bat.
Meanwhile, following scuffle with the then BCB management, led by Nazmul Hassan Papon, Tamim Iqbal has been absent from the International cricket.
The senior two cricketers haven't been in national set up for a long time although the duo doesn't retire from the International cricket.
Faruque said there is no bar on them; they can play if the selectors feel that their service is needed for the national team.
Faruque made the comments after a board of directors' meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Regarding their availability, Faruque further said, "I have told you one thing, if a cricketer isn't retired, he is definitely available for selection."
He, however, said he could not give any new information about the allrounder.
"Now only Shakib can actually say whether he will play in the BPL... I can't really say about his condition. I don't have any update on him," he added.
Tamim is playing in the NCL currently. He is also set to lead Fortune Barishal in BPL, which starts on December 30. Shakib is playing now franchise cricket.
The Champions Trophy, to be played in a hybrid model, is scheduled to be held on 19 February.
However, the schedule has not been announced yet.
