Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), AMM Nasir Uddin has stated that the Election Commission is fully prepared to organise elections at any time.

He made the remarks during a discussion with the media on Tuesday (17 December) at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka.

The statement follows the speech delivered by Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Monday (16 December) marking Victory Day.

Addressing the nation, the chief adviser indicated that elections could be scheduled broadly between the end of 2025 and the first half of 2026.

When asked about the chief adviser’s remarks, the CEC reaffirmed, “The Commission is prepared to hold elections at any time.”

Earlier, on 15 December, BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman commented on the duration of the interim government, asserting that citizens have the right to know how many more months are required for state reforms.

“If the mere announcement of a roadmap for future plans causes discomfort among the advisers, it would undoubtedly go against public aspirations,” he stated.

Tarique Rahman made the remarks while virtually addressing a discussion meeting organised by the BNP on the occasion of Victory Day.
