The Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) has sent nine Rohingyas back to Myanmar while they were attempting to enter Bangladesh to escape the ongoing clash between the army and the rebel groups in the neighboring country.
The group, aboard a small boat, was attempting to infiltrate via the jetty at Shah Porir Dwip in Teknaf on Thursday morning, said Teknaf-2 BGB Captain Lieutenant Colonel Mahiuddin Ahmed.
He said the ongoing clash between the Myanmar army and rebel groups has subsided in areas adjacent to the Bangladesh border.
Although intermittent sounds of explosions were heard from the other side of the border in the first half of Monday, no such sounds have been heard since that evening, he added.
