Bangladeshi migrant drowns in South China Sea in Malaysia

A Bangladeshi migrant worker drowned in the South China Sea off Kampung Baru Gebeng beach in Malaysia on Sunday (18 February).

Local police recovered the body of Rashidul, 30, from the beach at 4:50 pm on Sunday (Feb 18), said Kuantan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu.

Rashidul was washed away by strong waves while swimming in the sea with his two friends, the police officer added.

He said the victim's friends managed to reach shore.

The victim's body was sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) for an autopsy, the police officer added.
