Students of various universities took to the streets of the capital's different areas to protest the recent violent attacks on university students across the country who were advocating for quota reform. 

Protesters halted traffic in the Badda area by blocking one side of the road after beginning to assemble on the road adjacent to the campus around 10am on Tuesday (16 July), DMP Assistant Commissioner (Badda Zone) Rajon Kumar Saha said.

Simultaneously, students from United International University (UIU) participated in the demonstration at their campus on Madani Avenue, rallying in support of the same cause. 

Meanwhile, Uttara University, Shanta-Mariam University and World University have been protesting by blocking roads in various areas of the capital since morning.

Students of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) joined the ongoing quota reform movement by blocking the Gabtali-Babubazar Beribadh road.

Witnesses said that students started gathering at the main gate of the university. At 11:30am students took position on the main road.

At this time, all traffic from Babubazar to Sadarghat and from Sadarghat to Babubazar was stopped. 

The students of Shayamoli Ideal Textile Polytechnic Institute also gathered at the same place in solidarity with the ULAB students.

Students of the State University blocked roads in Kuril.

Chase and counter-chase between the anti-quota activists of the local Chhatra League activists have been reported in the Notun Bazar area.

The protests reflect growing discontent among students nationwide over the handling of quota reform demonstrations and the violent responses they have faced.
