Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought cooperation Asian Development Bank (ADB) in implementing blue economy.

She also sought help in extracting every resources from country's maritime boundary.

The premier came up with the urge while the visiting Asian Development Bank (ADB) vice president Yingming Yang called on her at her office in Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday (2 July).

PM's Press Secretary Md Nayeemul Islam Khan briefed reporters after the call on.

Mentioning that Bangladesh is doing well in agricultural research, Sheikh Hasina also sought support in the agro sector from ADB.

Hasina said, "We want to develop Bangladesh as a big market particularly for our own products".

She mentioned that her government laid emphasis on production of the agricultural items as food security is the priority issue. 

Sheikh Hasina also said with the logistic support from the ADB Bangladesh wants to strengthen its competitiveness for export items after the graduation from the Least Developed Countries in 2026.

She briefly narrated the road to developed Bangladesh by 2041.

Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh needs ADB’s assistance for integrated river management including river training, capital dredging and maintenance dredging.

Highly appreciating the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the ADB vice president Yingming Yang said that ADB will increase their support in Urban and Water Policy from 13% of the total support to 26%.

He cited that the interested fields of ADB in Bangladesh are health project and digital technology apart from collaborating in agricultural research in longer version.

ADB is keen to work on primary education and healthcare skill development in their new five-year plan, said Yingming Yang.

ADB wants to develop a city master plan for Bangladesh to better usages of available resources, said the ADB vice president.

PMO Secretary Mohammad Salahuddin and ERD Secretary Shahriar Kader Siddik were present on the occasion.
