Stating there is a chance of floods in the country in August, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered all concerned to prepare in advance to tackle the flood situation.

"There are chances of flooding. Everyone should prepare in advance to tackle floods," she said at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Tuesday (2 July).

Planning Minister Abdus Salam briefed the press after the meeting.

"The prime minister has asked us to prepare in advance to protect the people of the country from floods. Apart from this, she directed the concerned authorities to develop the infrastructures in the flood-prone regions," he added.

He said PM Hasina has ordered to emphasise the training of project managers to speed up the development work.

She also instructed to appoint a project manager for each project, the minister added.

"PM directed to complete the project preparation in the first three months of the current financial year," he further said.

Abdus Salam also said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered to look into how the money allocated for the projects in the last fiscal year 2023-24 was spent.

The planning minister said a meeting will be held with the secretaries of all ministries on 4 July regarding the development projects.
