Polling centre set ablaze in Gafargaon

Miscreants set fire to a polling center in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh at 4:30 am on Saturday (6 January), a day before the 12th Jatiya Sangsad Election.

Gafargaon Fire Service and Civil Defence station officer Ram Prasad Pal said

“Miscreants ignited a fire at Porshipara Govt. Primary School in Gafargaon, which serves as the polling center for 4,658 voters. The fire was brought under control after a two-hour joint effort by the fire service and locals,” said Gafargaon Fire Service and Civil Defence station officer Ram Prasad Pal.

He added that four rooms of the school were damaged by the fire.

Referring to the incident as an act of sabotage, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gafargaon Police Station Shahinuzzaman said, “The miscreants would be brought to book after a thorough investigation.”
