Pakistan Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir said today the nation needs stable leadership and a healing touch to transition away from the politics of anarchy and polarisation.
"The nation needs stable hands and a healing touch to move on from the politics of anarchy and polarisation, which does not suit a progressive country of 250 million people," said General Syed Asim Munir, according to a statement from the military as final results from a general election trickled in.
The army chief congratulated the country for the "successful conduct" of its national elections.
He wishes that these elections bring political and economic stability and prove to be the harbinger of peace and prosperity for Pakistan.
However, the divisive Pakistan elections have not yielded a clear victor, as the tardy vote-counting process nears completion.
Elections were held for 265 seats in the national assembly, with a political party requiring 133 seats for a simple majority.
