Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud has disclosed that he engaged in discussions with India's Commerce Minister regarding the importation of 50 tons of onions and 100,000 tons of sugar ahead of Ramadan.
Hasan Mahmud disclosed these details to reporters following a meeting with India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goya
"We have thoroughly discussed the importation of 50,000 tons of onions and 100,000 tons of sugar before Ramadan. Additionally, we addressed various other pertinent issues," Hasan Mahmud stated.
During the meeting, Hasan Mahmud urged Piyush Goyal to eliminate tariff and non-tariff barriers on Bangladeshi export products, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to Bangladesh, particularly during Ramadan, to stabilize prices.
Discussions encompassed a range of mutual interests, with both sides pledging to enhance cooperation across various sectors including trade, connectivity, electricity, defense, security, and water resources.
