A devastating fire swept through a fireworks factory in central India on Tuesday, resulting in the tragic loss of 11 lives and leaving approximately 150 individuals injured, Associated Press (AP) reported citing officials.
Videos circulating on social media captured the harrowing scene as smoke and flames engulfed the factory, prompting people to flee the area in panic.
Pawan Kumar Sharma, the region's top administrative officer, informed reporters that at least 11 people succumbed to the blaze. Rescue teams are diligently searching through the debris to ensure no one is trapped.
Senior police officer Ishad Wali reported that around 150 individuals sustained injuries in the incident.
An explosion at a fireworks factory in southern India last July killed eight people. In 2018, a massive fire at a firecracker factory in New Delhi killed 17 workers. A year earlier, a blast killed 23 people while they were making firecrackers in a village in Madhya Pradesh state in central India.
