Nazmul Hassan Papon, Managing Director of Beximco Pharmaceuticals, has resigned from his position at Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd (BPL) following his appointment as the Youth and Sports Minister. Beximco Pharma informed investors through a notification published on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) website on Sunday.
Papon served as a member of Beximco Pharma's board of directors in addition to his role as MD.
Papon was elected from the Kishoreganj-6 constituency. He took oath as a cabinet member at Bangabhaban and was given the responsibility of youth and sports ministry on Thursday (11 January).
Currently, he is also serving as the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Expressing his thoughts on his new role as minister, Nazmul Hasan Papon stated, "Assuming the responsibilities of a minister feels gratifying. The Prime Minister has assigned new duties, bringing forth new experiences. Having been associated with the private sector, I now bear the responsibility of the public sector. I am committed to comprehending the work."
Article 147 of the Bangladesh Constitution states, 'A Minister, Minister of State, or Deputy Minister of the Government shall not hold any position of profit, salaried position, rank, or participate in the management of any company, association, or institution for profit.'
