Chief Adviser's Press Wing today debunks Mufti Alauddin Jihadi's statement claiming that Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus provides aid to Israel, saying deposed Awami League men are spreading Jihadia's statement to mislead people.

"The leaders and workers of deposed Awami League are spreading the statement of Mufti Alauddin Jihadi to mislead people," CA's Press Wing said in a statement posted on its verified Facebook page - CA Press Wing Facts.

A speaker named Mufti Alauddin Jihadi recently claimed in a statement that Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has given Taka 1,000 crore to Israel, it said.

"His statement has spread on social media. People associated with Awami League politics are trying to mislead people by spreading this statement," it said.

It also said such false and fabricated propaganda is basically a part of the plot ongoing against Prof Yunus and his interim government.

Independent fact-checking organisations said the issue of Prof Yunus's organisation Grameen America providing US$ one crore in aid to Israel was first published on an online portal named Bangla Insider in October 2023.

Later, it was gradually published in some other online portals and newspapers.

After this claim spread, the fact-checking organisation Rumor Scanner investigated it, according to the statement.

The probe of Rumor Scanner revealed that when the horror of attacks among the Palestinians began in October 2023, it started to be spread in Bangladesh that Nobel laureate economist Professor Muhammad Yunus had given Taka 1,000cr in aid to Israel.

The investigation revealed that on October 13 in 2023, online media outlet Bangla Insider, known as the propaganda site of the Awami League, released the fake report and spread it.

Although the report mentioned a statement from the Israeli Foreign Ministry in favour of the claim, no such information was found in any statement published by the Israeli ministry at that time.

The Israeli foreign ministry also confirmed to Rumor Scanner that no statement containing the claim had been published.

In addition, Israeli journalists and fact-checkers also told Rumor Scanner that they were unaware of any such aid. At the same time, the Yunus Center also confirmed that the matter was false, according to the statement.

In this situation, the interim government has called upon all scholars, ulama, and responsible citizens of Bangladesh not to be misled and to resist the propaganda of those who are trying to destabilise the country.
