The United States Embassy in Dhaka has issued a security alert, advising American citizens in Bangladesh to exercise heightened caution amid planned protests across the country in response to Israeli airstrikes on Gaza.

The advisory, published on the Embassy’s website on Monday (7 April), warns of widespread demonstrations expected throughout the day, particularly involving university students rallying in solidarity with Palestinians.

The protests, it noted, are likely to culminate in a central mass gathering, which may cause significant traffic disruptions and include demonstrations near the US Embassy premises.

In anticipation of the unrest, the US Embassy in Dhaka announced a reduction in public services on the afternoon of 7 April.

The advisory also underscored the potential volatility of such events, cautioning that even peaceful protests can unexpectedly escalate into confrontations or violence.

US citizens have been urged to avoid protest areas, remain alert around large gatherings, review personal security plans, stay informed of local developments, and monitor local media for updates.

The embassy reiterated the importance of situational awareness, encouraging citizens to steer clear of demonstration zones and stay abreast of emerging updates through trusted news sources.
